The Secret

It feels like it's bee multiple weeks since my last blog post. So I was putzing around on Facebook and this list of the most popular things on amazon popped up. This was one of them >>>  https://manifestationplanner.com/optin So I started reading about the Law of Attraction. Which led me to the documentary "The Secret" If you haven't seen it, it's on Netflix. "The Secret" is based off the book by the same name. I have seen this book many times in bookstores, walmart, target and I always assumed it was some historical fiction book (Like National Treasure or something) so I never really picked it up. I had always intended to read it, just never really looked in to it. So the magical Law of Attraction. What is it? Basically whatever you put out into the universe is what you get back. The documentary's example. You tell the universe you really want a cup of coffee. It might not come to you right then but you would get that cup of

Blogging Life

Image
I was reading this article linked below and one of the ways to fail your blog is not posting enough new content. This is something that I have been clearly struggling with as most of my posts are regarding the project I am working on, my lack of time due to life, and the occasional book review. How do you post new content while still sticking with the same theme (my theme being writing in general) I don't really have any tips, tricks or hacks to delve into just yet seeing as I am a pretty novice writer. I could borrow some from other blogs and just link the blog but then why wouldn't you just go read those blogs? See where I'm at? I know my blog is still small and my readers are quiet lurkers, not commenters (which is an okay way to be!) but it doesn't help when I need some feedback on what to write about. So how do you NOT fail a blog according to BloggingPro? Change it up. Write something different, change your template, or even switch platforms. You could

Giving Myself Rules

I have so many things going on right now that I had to lay down some ground rules for myself. No more staying up until midnight trying to write when I have to be up at 5 the next morning. Can't start writing until homework is finished (unless I want to be doing homework at midnight when I have to be up at 5...) Be more flexible. Sometimes shit happens. and the biggest rule, that involves everyone reading this, Blog posts only one day a week ( for now ).  At this point I have quiet a few posts seeing as I have been trying to put up a new one everyday. Not only am I struggling for ideas here (as I am still working on the same project I was before) but I also am running out of time to sit down and think of a new idea. The posts just aren't flowing like they used to. So on SUNDAYS you can expect a new blog post from me full of my witty glory (ha!) and all my writing knowledge (double ha!). Though if there is anything you guys want me to write about or even have a prom

The Visitor

I was going through some old projects of mine. A few years ago a friend of mine found a list of 2-3 sentence horror stories and we used them as prompts. Though my first prompt is the only one that ever got finished as a short story (though never published) I thought I would share it with you. This was the short horror story The last thing I saw was my alarm clock flashing 12:07 before she pushed her long rotting nails through my chest, her other hand muffling my screams. I sat bolt upright, relieved it was only a dream, but as I saw my alarm clock read 12:06, I heard my closet door creak open. This was the beginning of my short story (it continues to the end but as it is stiller anther long for a blog post I thought I would only post the beginning)             Sharp, jagged nails ran down her cheek and towards her throat. Claire’s breathing was heavy as she stared intently at the wall to the right. Too terrified to look at the face that went wi

Memorial Day Remembrance

Today I read a newspaper article on how most people don't really understand the true meaning behind Memorial Day anymore. During the time of WWII when up to 12% of the population served in the military, everyone knew at least 1 soldier. Today with voluntary service less than 1% serve. So let's remember those who have volunteered to serve our country. No matter what your politics no matter if you disagree with where/why they are where they are, remember the fallen soldiers. The Soldiers Fallen We celebrate Memorial Day to remember the soldiers fallen though it is not the 30th of May we remember the soldiers fallen. During your backyard barbecues remember the soldiers fallen While friends and family rendezvous remember the soldiers fallen. Though it is not the 30th of May we remember the soldiers fallen For some, everyday is Memorial Day as they remember their soldier fallen Take this day, your holiday to remember the soldiers fallen and though for some it

Organizing

Organizing. I've been writing this word a lot lately since I have to take Management and Organization as a summer course. So it got me thinking, could I organize my writing notes in a more efficient (writing this word a lot too) way? Currently: I have one word document that is my actual novel and one word document that is my notes. The notes page isn't necessarily disorganized, it's just not as neat as my perfectionist brain would like it to be. In order I have: Description of characters The "Situation" the Creatures and their descriptions (highlighted with what the readers and characters know and not highlighted with what I know) A few sentences with what I want to happen in this book (I'm thinking trilogy here) It's not a lot of notes. I could have more but a word document allows me to go back and change my notes, add in more or change a creature as I want to. I tried using a notebook but it ended up with a lot of discarded pages when I ran o
